Good May Disciples,

Change is on the way. I am full of emotion about the change that is taking place next month. Moving, new church, leaving you all, change is never easy. But when I think about May, we can see many changes: the days grow longer, the grass turns green, and new life pushes its way through the soil that once looked brown and barren. Spring is here to remind us that God is still in the business of renewal.

Over the past nine years, I have grown much and so have you all. I think of John 15:5 when Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” I understand that growth isn’t something that happens overnight. Growth requires time, nourishment, and remaining connected with Christ. Without you as a church and without Jesus, I would not have grown in my faith and my life. I believe that is why we walk with Christ, to allow Him to show us the way and to grow in our faith.

So, this May, I want us to think about a few questions that have come to mind:

  1. Where is God inviting me to grow?
  2. What habits or attitudes need tending?
  3. How am I staying connected to Christ, or am I becoming spiritually distracted?

When we grow in our faith, there is rarely a day-by-day noticeable change, but it is faithful. As a church family, we also grow together through our discipleship guiding us to love, trust, and show compassion. Discipleship isn’t an individual thing; it is there so we can bear witness to one another, where we can forgive generously, and celebrate each other’s joys. By doing this, we all become better at being witnesses to God’s love and grace. Jesus did say in John 13:35, “The world will know we are disciples by our love.” The love that Jesus is speaking of doesn’t come from trying harder; it comes from abiding in Him.

With the many transitions that are coming up over the next couple of months. Things like graduations, the school year ending, and planting and planning your garden. These can be exciting times, but they can also be unsettling. I want you all to know that God does go with us into every new season. Remember: You are not behind. You are not forgotten. You are being shaped.

So, this month, notice where God is working. Go outside and enjoy nature. Thank God for all that has been done for us and will be done. Reach out to those who need encouragement. And most of all love your neighbor.

Thank you for being a church that loves well, serves faithfully, and seeks Christ together. It is a joy to walk this journey of faith with you. May this month be a time of renewed hope, steady growth, and deep confidence in God’s goodness.

Blessings,
Pastor Greg Leslie
