Ted Sullivan Obituary

Theodore John Sullivan

July 25, 1960 – July 7, 2022

Theodore “Ted” John Sullivan, 61, of Pillager, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Services were held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Motley United Methodist Church in Motley, MN.

Ted was born July 25, 1960, in Evergreen Park,     Illinois, the son of James and Joan (Linda) Sullivan. He met his wife while attending Pillager School and in 1980 he married Becky (Topp) Sullivan. Ted was an avid worker. In his younger years, he worked hard on his parent’s farm, baling hay, planting crops, picking rock, and tending to the animals.   This instilled his good work ethic. He owned and operated Northern Tree and Landscape for 35 years. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed his time being at his lake property as well as riding snowmobile and motorcycle with Becky. Ted loved being a dad to his two daughters and cherished every second with his four grandchildren. He enjoyed seeing his properties look well-manicured and his wood piles being the biggest in the county.  As Ted would say “You can judge a man’s character by the size of his woodpile.”

He will be missed by his wife, Becky Sullivan, of 42 years; his children, Samantha Sullivan, Pillager, Kassandra (Eric) Nelson, Cushing; grandchildren, Miranda Harting, Jett Nelson, Jay Nelson, and   Josie Nelson; Father, James Sullivan Sr., Pillager; siblings, Tina (Dave) Bickford, Brainerd, Teresa (John) Ringle, Bemidji, James (Carolyn)  Sullivan Jr., Fargo, Jennifer (Bill) Pirkl, Bemidji, and     Jessica (Jerrid) Franzen, Pillager. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda, and sister, Tammy.

2 Corinthians 1:6-7

If we are comforted, it is to bring you comfort from the experience of endurance while you go through the same sufferings that we also suffer.   Our hope for you is certain, because we know that as you are partners in suffering, so also you are partners in comfort.

Thank you to everyone in our church family for all of the work that you did for Ted’s funeral and for hosting the many people that came to celebrate his life.  It was a busy and hard day, and you helped more than we can say.

Pat Blue Obituary

Patricia M. Blue, age 93, of Motley, died Sunday, February 28, 2021, in Carver, MN.  Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Motley United Methodist Church in Motley.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.   To watch the funeral service via Zoom, the link is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/2183526466 and the password is the same as for Sunday services.

Patricia will be laid to rest in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.

Patricia was born January 13, 1928, in Moorhead to James and Clara (Wohlert) Fitch.  She grew up in the Fargo/Moorhead area; while in high school her family moved to Cleveland, OH.  Patricia met her husband, Glen Blue, following his honorable discharge from the Navy.  The couple was united in marriage on September 14, 1946, in Moorhead.  Patricia and Glen often enjoyed swing dancing at the Medina Ballroom.  She walked strongly in her faith because her faith carried her through some very tough times.  Patricia was a member of Motley United Methodist Church where she was active in the church choir; allowing her to express her spirituality through song.  She was also very active in her community: baking cookies for the Lions Club, delivering for Meals on Wheels, singing and performing with the Sweet Adeline’s, and supporting the Motley Historical Society.  She taught her children self-reliance, to find adventures in life, to have fun and life is just a little bit better with pink lipstick.  Patricia appreciated a child’s smile and was always full of love; she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren beyond words.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Patricia is survived by her children, Sandra (Richard) Tracy of Hutchinson, Robert (Mary) of Excelsior, Douglas of Minneapolis, Daniel of St. Louis Park, Richard (Becky) of Carver, David of Motley, Bonnie (Jim) Bellmer of Hayesville, OH; brother, Donald (Ginny) Fitch of Little Falls; brother-in-law, Terry (Char) Blue of Texas; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen; step-father,  Erwin Eckheart; grandson, Dustin Blue.
