Good August All,

Welcome to the “Dog Days” of summer. I know last month, I probably complained a bit too much about the weather, so now I am probably going to pay for it.

The month of August is full of transition.  There is school shopping, the state fair, Labor Day, and everything in between. It is also a time to start focusing on getting back into the routine. I want you to know that I am not trying to bring anyone down, it is just the reality that summer is only 3 months long.

With that being said, I want you all to start thinking about how we are going to come together as a church family. How we are going to work as a faith community to bring the love of Christ into the community. I also want you to think about where your time as a member is being used. There will be monthly opportunities to donate your time. Maybe you want to be a liturgist, help usher, or even help teach Sunday School. There will also be opportunities with the community breakfast, cleaning the church, or even being a part of a committee. These are all great places to make and build lasting relationships.

Lastly, I want to remind everyone of the concert that will be taking place at the end of the month. We are welcoming back The Jumpin’ Jehosafats.  This group is a real treat to see and listen to. So, if you have time, make sure you mark it on your calendar and join us on Thursday, August 29^th, at 6:30.

Good July Faithful Followers,

We are slowly working our way through the summer months. As of the time of writing, I think I have worn shorts just about as many times as I have turned on my air conditioner. I will say less than a handful of times. Isn’t summer supposed to be warm? All we have been greeted with is a few days of sunshine and a lot of rain. As I watch the weather every morning, I just tell myself, yet look it’s going to be windy, rainy, and cool.

So, what is in store for July?

This first week, July 7^th, Chris will be filling in preaching,

I will be back on July 14^th to celebrate Holy Communion

July 21^st, Dawn and Gary will lead the service.

July 28^th, I will be back.

I am forever grateful that Chris, Dawn, and Gary are willing to use their gifts when I am absent. Thank you!

So, as I close for this month, I want to plant a seed. Here are a few questions that I want us to think about.

1. Why do we worship the way we do?
2. Does worship seem routine?
3. What does King David have to do with worship?

Yes, I know these are tantalizing questions, but they are important to what we do. So, if you want to get a head start jump on over to the Old Testament and begin reading from 2^nd Samuel. There is much information about King David and his life, and how this musician king, helped form our service today,

Lastly, enjoy Independence Day, stay safe, and love Jesus!
