Good June Disciples,

As all of you know by now, I have accepted a new position at Vineyard UMC in Hutchinson. My last day in the pulpit will be on June 21st. I hope all of you can come and celebrate my time spent with you and the future.

As I write this last article, my heart is filled with both deep gratitude and emotion. After nine years of serving as your pastor, we have celebrated baptisms, weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. We have grown in our discipleship all while we worshipped, prayed, laughed, and, yes, even cried. There have been trials, losses, and some seasons of uncertainty, but, through it all, we put it into God’s hands. I know transitions are never easy, but I trust fully in God’s plan for each one of us.

I want you all to know how much you have meant to me and my family. We have all been through much over the nine years. You have all been more than just a congregation to us. Your love, encouragement, faith, and patience you have all shown will be something we will carry with us into our future. Serving Motley UMC, was a joy and honor.

I am grateful for every moment shared, from the music and worship on Sunday mornings, to the personal conversations we have had. I can honestly say that you are all great disciples, and because of that, it is easy to see Christ at work in your church in powerful and life changing ways. To quote one of the new members, “I feel God in this place!” I have no doubt that you will continue the mission of the church as you continue to lead and grow in the love of Christ.

As I leave you all, I want to give you a bit of encouragement. First, by remaining steadfast in your faith. Second, continue to love everyone, serve God faithfully, keep Christ at the center of all you do, and trust in God’s guidance for the future.

As I write this, I do not know who is coming as your next pastor. But I do ask that you extend the same grace, love, and support that you have generously shown me. They will be blessed to lead such a faithful and caring congregation.

Friends, I will never forget Motley UMC, and you will always have a place in my heart.

Blessings,
Pastor Greg Leslie
