Appointment Change Letter
April 14, 2026
Members and Friends of the Motley United Methodist Church,
Bishop Lanette Plambeck intends to appoint me, Pastor Greg Leslie, to Vineyard United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, and I have affirmed this decision. The new appointment will begin July 1, 2026. My last day in the pulpit will be June 21st, with a mandatory transition time the following week.
During this time, our Conference Superintendent will use information from our church's profile and past consultations in order to assist the Bishop and Cabinet in making a new pastoral appointment. If necessary, Conference Superintendent Becky Jo Messenbrink may consult further with our SPRC Chairperson or Committee members.
I want you all to know it has been a great nine years serving as your pastor. We have all grown in our discipleship. We have watched the Holy Spirit work in our mission and vision, and none of it could have happened without your faithful service.
God Bless you all during this time of transition. I pray for the work of the conference and the work of the local church during the appointment process. Also, pray for Stephanie and me as we transition to a new community and new ministry.
