Frances Christensen

Frances Joy Christensen, 101, from Staples, passed away on October 27, 2023. Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, at Motley United Methodist Church with Paul Johnson presiding. Visitation will start one hour prior.
Franny Jo, as she was affectionately called, was a cook for the original ElRay Café in Motley, MN (Bricks). Franny had a phenomenal memory and a great mind for numbers (banker’s daughter). Fran figured that she had cooked 24,848 turkeys at the ElRay Café in 18 years; not only that, but she also had the MOST beautiful cursive handwriting right up to her last days. Franny even taught piano and played piano in the Motley United Methodist Church.
Frances is survived by her children, Carole Oliger, Sherwood (Florence) Jordahl, Edward (Marsha) Jordahl, Janet Greig, Judy (Lee) Jenkins; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Irv; parents, Franklin and Harriett Freemire; one granddaughter; two sons-in-law; one brother; and two sisters.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
